Chiropractic adjustment by Dr. DanielOur Techniques & Services

Helping the Body Heal Itself

Chiropractic care can help the nervous system (our electrical wiring) work at peak performance, allowing the body to heal itself. It is also important for self-healing that our “foundation” (the pelvis and the sacrum) are level, so that the 24 bones above the foundation can perform at an optimum level; this can also be achieved through chiropractic adjustments.

The Benefits of Chiropractic Care

The reduction of stress on the spine resulting from chiropractic adjustments has been shown to have many benefits, including short-term and long-term pain relief, improved sleep, enhanced mobility, and improved reflexes. Many of our patients find that they begin chiropractic care for one specific reason, but then see improvement in other ongoing conditions they may have, such as allergies or acid reflux.

At Bowker Clinic of Chiropractic, we use gentle adjustment techniques best suited to the patient’s individual circumstances. Whatever technique is used, chiropractic adjustments are safe and pain-free.

Most commonly, we start with the Specific Prone Technique, which is so gentle that it’s safe for newborns and hundred-year olds alike. The patient lies in a prone position while specific vertebrae (not the whole spine) are adjusted.

In subsequent visits, other techniques may be used if they are right for the patient at that stage of treatment, including:

  • Gonstead, a full-spine technique that relies on X-rays and a heat-sensing instrument to be as precise as possible, addressing only the problem areas.
  • Diversified, in which a gentle manual thrust is applied to specific vertebrae to free up “stuck” spinal joints.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing that predates recorded history. Modern acupuncture can be traced back to the year 1601, with the publication of The Great Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, written by a renowned acupuncturist of China’s Ming dynasty.

In 1995, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) classified acupuncture needles as medical instrument and in 1997, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) acknowledged acupuncture as an effective therapy for a wide range of health conditions.
